Over the past twelve years or so I was a radio presenter on various stations in the USA and locally in the UK. Curating and presenting the shows, while time-consuming, was always a great deal of fun and as a result of my involvement with radio this gave me the opportunity to take a lot of concert and music-related photographs…

It is always fun to take headshots and publicity photographs as this, inevitably, involves creating a relaxed and conducive atmosphere and – let me be honest – any opportunity to chat about music is one that I will seize and if I have a camera in my hand then that’s my idea of Heaven; that said, nothing compares to witnessing a live performance.
As mentioned, my radio show gave me access to backstage and ‘pit’ access to major festivals as well as shooting in more intimate venues – each having their own benefits. With a smaller venue, the concert is often accompanied with a good deal of interaction with the audience but the excitement of big shows with full lights and a full house is indescribable and to have the opportunity to capture the performance never fails to give me goosebumps. That said, for major shows, the ‘pit’ will be cleared after the first three songs so there is the additional adrenaline rush of getting those shots!
Home-town shows are always fun to shoot as, inevitably, there will be friends and family in the audience, the performer will be in front of familiar faces so is likely to be relaxed which will always result in a great performance (and photographic opportunities).
For any venue, the most important thing is getting ‘bums on seats’… venues cannot exist without their audiences; what could be better for a venue to have their social media show what a great time people were having at a recent performance? Informal sound-check shots, performance shots, crowd shots and displaying the venue that looks forward to welcoming customers old & new…I could do this for you!

Digital images would be edited and submitted to you within 72 hours – if you wished to have some images printed, I could arrange this though additional costs would be incurred.
